Recently, the performance of the MagSafe charger on iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max was compared.
Apple introduced MagSafe with the iPhone 12 in 2020, a smarter way to attach accessories to an iPhone and also a wireless charging solution. Recently, YouTube channel ChargerLAB did some tests to compare if the MagSafe Charger on iPhone 14 Pro Max has any improvement compared to iPhone 13 Pro Max .
iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max are compared for Magsafe charging capabilities.
Technically, MagSafe technology hasn't changed much since the iPhone 12. However, ChargerLAB can observe that new iPhones can take advantage of the MagSafe Charger in a more efficient way.
MagSafe works better on iPhone 14
Tests were conducted with Apple's regular MagSafe charger running firmware 247.0.0.0. In tests, ChargerLAB measured the amount of power transferred during charging, the maximum charge level, and the time it took to fully charge the device. While little has changed, there are some interesting differences in results between the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
For example, the iPhone 14 Pro Max can maintain a charging speed between 16 - 19W for a longer time than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. After 44 minutes of charging, the charging speed with the MagSafe Charger on the iPhone 13 Pro Max decreased significantly. Meanwhile, this charging speed is still maintained up to 1 hour 4 minutes on iPhone 14 Pro Max.
iPhone 14 Pro Max still charges Magsafe faster.
At the end of the test, the iPhone 14 Pro Max charged 100% of the battery in 2 hours 18 minutes, the iPhone 13 Pro Max took up to 2 hours and 26 minutes. Therefore, those who love the ability to quickly charge in an emergency situation will benefit from the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
According to ChargerLAB, the difference in results can be attributed to the improved cooling system on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. But of course, charging any iPhone model with a USB-C charger is still much faster.
